- BMC® Festival Diversität und Balance
DE+EN | 4-day-festival
The Body-Mind Centering® Berlin Festival "Diversity and Balance" offers the opportunity to get to know various Berlin teachers in one place and, through 12 very different BMC® classes, to gain an insight into this special movement and body therapy approach or to deepen your own practice in it.
In BMC® we deal with the dynamic connections between body, state of mind, consciousness, thoughts and feelings. Through anatomical information, movement, touch and subtle sensations, structures, tissues and spaces in the body are made tangible. A deep, subtle experience of one's own body in connection with one's own environment can be experienced. Through the patterns of early childhood movement development, we explore movements from single-celled organisms to walking beings. Individual stages of development interlock and provide the ground and potential for our actions today. Each class can be very different in its composition and style depending on the theme.

Workshops at the BMC® Festival
Monday, Feb 24, 2025
9:00am - 11:00am | Ground & Space | Workhop with Nina Wehnert
Meeting the inner fluid ground, inner fluid spaces and subtle movements within us to relate to what is around us. The ability to
relate is supported by the way we experience ourselves and our relationship with the earth and space.
The class begins with a guided meditation, an invitation to find and focus on our inner fluids. With the support of other systems, such as our bones, the invitation will be to dive into a movement and dance improvisation, finding a sense of clarity and lightness.
03:30pm - 05:30pm | Touch: Exploring Boundaries & Connection | Workshop with Nina Spiri
As the very first sensation we experience as embryos and babies, touch is vital for our growth and for developing a sense of trust and security. But what role can touch play in our adult lives? Let's explore how giving and receiving touch can shape our sense of self, boundaries, and relationships through hands-on exercises that invite curiosity, ease, and connection.
Tuesday Feb 25, 2025
9:00am - 11:00am | Yoga & BMC® - Steadiness and Ease | Workshop with Susanne Taprogge
Where and how can I find steadiness and ease in my body, mind and heart? Together we explore this dance of polarities through free movement and contained form, inside and outside.
11:30am - 01:30pm | Central and peripheral initiation | Workshop with Jens Johannsen
Any movement can be begun from a more central and a more peripheral place.
In moving skeletally or muscularly it´s a common endeavor. Vast rooms of orientation in oneself, in groups and in the world open up when we Include our senses and thought process.
03:30pm - 05:30pm | Voice and Expression | Workshop with Jennie Zimmermann
How is our voice created? How does it sound and what does it express? Where can we support it from?
We will explore the voice, sing and sound together.
Wednesday, Feb 26, 2025
9:00am - 11:00am | Focus fat: fluid?! | Workshop with Heike Kuhlmann
Despite the bad reputation: Fat wraps, warms, protects, building material, endocrine gland and what else? This class offers the fat a stage. We all get space to experience and be nourished by fat.
- In this class we will spend time meeting and greeting this often forgotten organ of placenta, which we created as an embryo to essentially function as our early lungs, liver, gut, kidneys and endocrine glands. How may their echo in our bodies still support our sense of connection, belonging and transformation?
03:30pm - 05:30pm | From the origin of life to life on land | Workshop with Barbara Sennholz-Weinhardt
Connecting BMC and scientific knowledge on evolution, we are going to explore: What in us developed evolutionarily 3.5 billion, 500 or 300 million years ago, what do we have in common with the very first cell, with chordates and amniotes? How does it feel to locate our own being in the family tree of life?
Thursday, Feb 27, 2025
9:00am - 11:00am | Encompassing Complexity | Workshop with Julia Kleinknecht
The anatomic structures that allow us to express our feelings, feed our basic needs and listen to others mainly grow out of the embryonic structures of the pharyngeal arches in a process of complex folding and unfolding. We will explore their softness and strength as a breeding ground for non-violent communication.
11:30am - 01:30pm | Tongue, Neck and Heart | Workshop with Ka Rustler
Unveiling the dynamic relationship of our tongue, hyoid bone, neck and our heart.
03:30pm - 05:30pm | Integration | Workshop with Nina Wehnert & Heike Kuhlmann

Political Economist (BA, MSc, PhD), Organisational Developer and Facilitator, Somatic Movement Educator
Barbara loves to trace root causes: Why do we organize politics and economics the way we do, and how could it be more beneficial to life? For 20 years, she has sought, found and passed on answers to this question in academic, parliamentary and civil society contexts. Now she combines this political brainwork with bodywork: guiding people to perceive themselves in a more differentiated way and, with this ability to feel, be able to encounter other people and their own work in a way that is free and powerful.
